About Foulplay Games: Inclusive Murder Mysteries
Meet Maddy and Kristen
Our Values
Our play is foul, our values are not.
No Geek Left Behind
There is room for everyone in our games. Everyone should see themselves in a story, so we make sure our games are for everyone.
Game On
We believe that everyone deserves a chance to play! We want to encourage a space where geeks can feel free to have fun and build a community where the fun never stops!
Free to Geek
There is no level or requirement of geekiness to play. Whether you are ready to dive in headfirst or you are more of a wallflower who wants to take things slow, everyone’s play style is welcome!
Make it Your Own
We want players to embrace our characters and the worlds we build as their own. We start the story, but it’s up to players how they move through it!
Explore New Frontiers
We take it to the next level by writing games that bring more than cliched characters and the same old murder mystery settings. From a faraway spaceport to a remote lake cabin, and everything in between, we give players new and amazing worlds to discover!
A Little Mystery is Good
We believe in new experiences and new ideas. Sometimes the most fun happens outside your comfort zone—take a leap with us!
How It Started
In 2009, two college freshmen decided to start a murder mystery club at Western Washington University. What started as games with a few friends became a 60+ person club, complete with late-night dumpling runs, Goodwill costume trips, years of wildly fun games, and many amazing memories.
We realized that these were more than just games—they were a way for people to explore their creativity, make friends, and engage in a bit of (foul) play! What had started as planning parties and writing killer stories turned into building a community!
We began writing our own games to fill the gaps left by others, and it became a way to create spaces for people to discover and become their true selves. Little did we know just what it would spark…
How It’s Going
Now we get to do what we love: create worlds, share stories, and bring people together through planning and hosting murder mystery parties.
Since we began Foulplay Games, we’ve hosted over a hundred games, appeared at conventions like PAX West, Emerald City Comic Con, and GeekGirlCon, and we have shared our stories with thousands of people across the country!
We love that Foulplay isn’t only about us—it’s about you. We start the stories, but you bring the magic. We can’t wait to create a story with you and your friends!
